Fantastic Fireworks
This past weekend I got to see the Guy Fawkes fireworks at Battersea Park. For everyone who has no idea what i'm talking about (most of you) Guy Fawkes is someone who tried to blow up the British Parliament way way back in the day and they caught him on November 5, and so since then they celebrate that day....Usually there are bonfires and they burn effigies of Guy Fawkes, and fireworks as well. So thats what I was up to Saturday, Julie and I headed down to Battersea Park along with 40,000 other people! It was really nice though, the weather was good, and we drank some nice cold beers (oh i do love that about England, public drinking, sigh..) and we enjoyed some really spectacular fireworks. After we headed to Leicester Square for a couple more pints.
There's actually been so many fireworks this week...every day i've been watching them at night from my window. Its not just Guy Fawkes its also Diwali (Syke and Hindu celebration) and since its the festival of lights they've just been everywhere. Its pretty cool.
I also checked out the markets again on Sunday, went to Petticoat Lane market and to Old Spitalfields market. I liked them very much but I don't have the money to spend. I have to save up for travelling.....there are so many tempting things at the markets!
